Anthony graduated with a BA in Fine Art Film and Sculpture from the National College of Art and Design and went on to earn a Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Media and Development from the University of Limerick. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Digital Media Development and Education from the University of Limerick.

Anthony is currently the Head of Department for the Department of Media Studies at Templemore College in County Tipperary.

As a young filmmaker in the early nineties, Anthony began his career in writing, producing and directing Art House films and shorts. In 1992, the newly opened Irish Film Centre in Eustace Street Dublin provided groundbreaking opportunities for young, enthusiastic filmmakers to screen their work. Collaborating with the best sound engineers, editors and camera operators, Anthony’s passion for storytelling and visual experimentation led him across the globe, from Bangkok to Africa, Italy to Israel, Australia to Sao Paolo, filming live performances and stage productions.

Throughout his career, Anthony has worked across a wide range of media platforms, including RTÉ’s Jo Maxi, the extremely popular Youth Current Affairs show, which gave a voice to Ireland’s youth, screening shorts and inviting young enthusiasts to submit their shorts airing the winner on RTÉ.

Notably, Anthony was invited by the eminent psychiatrist Professor Emeritus Ivor Browne in a unique, year-long project to document his groundbreaking work on trauma and on the trauma-informed therapeutic uses of psychedelics – an experience that deepened Anthony’s interest in the power of narrative to heal and transform.

As Director of Station Films in the mid-1990s, he directed Individual and the martial arts documentary Citizen Devane for TG4. Amongst others, he directed and produced the videos for the Clare Early Learning Network; The National College of Art and Design, and for Assets Model Agency, Ireland’s leading model agency based in Dublin. In the late nineties as Director of Rail TV, Anthony oversaw all aspects of the production direction and editing for the Irish Rail Advertising Platform. Anthony’s work in directing and producing films for television, advertising, and education has earned him a reputation for both his creative vision and technical precision.

Whether he’s gaffer-taped to the side of a helicopter filming dancers on the Cliffs of Moher, directing a documentary on the ground or mentoring his students in the classroom, his life-long passion for filmmaking and commitment to the craft remains unwavering.

Over twenty years ago, Anthony moved to the beautiful County Tipperary where he has continued to expand his knowledge in new technologies and digital media. He continues to collaborate with and be inspired by his young students, the filmmakers of tomorrow. Nothing gives him greater joy.  And when he’s not behind the camera, you’ll probably find Anthony listening to Jazz at a festival with Tommy!
